Meet the Team

Zach Pierson

Zach is the dedicated wrestling coach at Kaukauna High School, bringing a wealth of experience from his time coaching in Perry Meridian program in Indianapolis and as an 8x All-American wrestler. Recognizing the need for more insightful rankings in Wisconsin, he founded Wisconsin Grappler in 2022. Zach's lifelong passion for wrestling is evident in his coaching and his remarkable ability to recall matches, data, and navigate intricate strategies of the sport.

Teague Fenwick

Teague's wrestling journey began in Mauston, highlighted by four regional qualifications and being a starter on a Team State Runner-Up squad. After coaching at Holmen, he transitioned to broadcasting, becoming a familiar voice covering Wisconsin wrestling for eight years, including major events like Bi-State and the State tournaments. He is also the keynote commentator for the State Preview Show at the Kohl Center and hosts a podcast, all fueled by his dedication to giving back to the wrestling community.

Steve Leurquin

A Wrightstown native and UW-Whitewater alum, Steve wrestled at 190 lbs before embarking on a two-decade career as a Special Education teacher. With over 20 years of coaching across various schools and two decades as a wrestling referee, his deep roots in the sport are evident. For the past four years, Steve has been a key voice covering events like Bi-State and the State Tournaments, and he proudly boasts an undefeated record against Kaukauna wrestlers.

Melissa Pierson

Melissa married into the wrestling world, like many of her fellow coach's wives, but she brings her own significant sports expertise as a former collegiate soccer player and youth coach. By trade, Melissa is a scientist and Innovation Coach. At Wisconsin Grappler, serves as the strategic powerhouse behind the scenes, turning ideas into action and keeping the site running smoothly. She also serves as Chief of Staff for the Soccer Parenting Association, where she focuses on creating positive experiences for young athletes by empowering and educating parents.
